The label has a few big words that really don’t need to be frightening, but should make you stop and think about what you are paying for.

The good news is that there aren’t any animal products. Vegans will like this, as do I. The first 3 ingredients are where my interest peaked. Cyclomethicone, Dimethicone, and Trimethylsiloxysilicate. are the first three ingredients listed. All three of these ingredients are silicones. This isn’t anything to worry about because they are not toxic. They create a nice satiny feel on the skin, but their being the first three ingredients means they are present in the highest concentration.

To be fair, Quintessence Clarifying Under Eye Serum does contain Green Tea extract and Retinol. Both ingredients serve to reduce the signs of aging. It also has vitamin K, know for its beneficial effects on dark under eye circles. They are further down the list of ingredients.

This is a good product for those who need greater lubrication and softening along with treating their under eye circles. The presence of silicones makes this product great for more mature skin that needs lighter coverage than can be found with carrier oils like jojoba, apricot, or olive oils. Since the product is for use at night only, the vitamin content might actually remain more potent. We all know how light will destroy the effectiveness of many vitamins.
