Have you wondered why tea bags help to reduce dark circles?
According to the research, tea contains tannin which has anti-inflammatory effects. It will contract body tissues and reduce eye-bags. Tannin is also known an astringent.

If you would like to try, please use the real (caffeinated) tea bags because only those contain tannin. Teas like Assam and Chamomile work better for eye-bags.
Infuse two tea bags in boiling water for 10 minutes. Drink the tea (don’t waste) and remove the tea bags and let the tea bags become cool. Apply a compress to your puffy areas.

I also read about the benefits of tea bags with this problem on another website. They reported that the caffine in the tea helps to increase blood flow in the eye area.

This is the first time I’ve heard of this. That tannin and caffeine can be beneficial when appllied to external body parts. Nice information. Thanks.

The article in the New York Times intrigued me as I’ve also had dark circles, and they disapeared due to Carole Maggio’s “Facercise” system outlined in her book by the title, “Facercise: The Dynamic Muscle-Toning Program for Renewed Vitality and a More Youthful Appearance”.
I was skeptical when I began the “Facercise” program, and two weeks later amazed, and six months later quite pleased with the results. For the cost of a book, and ten minutes morning and evening, fifteen if you really desire results you just might look years younger.

and that’s really sound interesting.. Is there any particular exercise around the eyes? I wonder if the concept similar with hellerwork ( http://www.mydarkcirclesblog.com/2006/12/11/can-hellerwork-cure-dark-circles/)

Yes, thanks for asking about Facercise, there are four (4) exercises for the eyes in the first section that a person performs on their own, the Basics of “Facercise” and three (3) exercises for the eyes in the progressive exercises section. It’s recommended that a person does the first section, the Basics for a while, perhaps several months, then add some or all of the progressive “Facercise” exercises. Ideally you take a picture of your profile before beginning, after two weeks, and then again after a couple of months. I was amazed the first time I began!
I’ve started and stopped several times in the last few years, stopping when I became very ill, for example hospitalized for congestive heart failure and renal failure, and restarting when my ability to focus and commit to a program returned. I picked up the book last month and said to myself , I think its about time…
